Response To The Election
Many people especially black people are upset because blacks didn't vote. During Obama's run in 2008 and again in 2012, we came out in numbers. Why? Because we all wanted change, we all wanted to see a Black Man at the face of the U.S. and stay the face of the U.S for another term.
When the 2016 Trump and Hillary campaign begun, there was nothing within either party that motivated us to get out an cast a vote. When we work long hours and receive a paycheck, we look forward to the shoes that we will be wearing, we look forward to the car that we will be driving, we look forward to the vacation we will be traveling on. So with this election and many others that have gone bye (not Obama's) we were left with empty promises. We voted and got nothing. We are still awaiting 40 acres and a mule that we have been promised.
So, why should we cast a vote and still come home to the same issues we have been battling for decades? Such as racism, poverty, violence, poor schools, lack of resources, lack of an economic structure, mass incarceration of the blacks etc.
Speaking of mass incarceration and the criminal justice system, the Democratic Party and the Republican Party is equivalent to the Prosecutor and Defense Attorney; they are part of the same bird (The Government Eagle). They debate one another in a public forum, chewing each other out and then go have coffee and lunch. In your face it's seems as they don't like each other, but when you aren't looking, they are best buddies. Like I often say, it's all about mind tricks, it's all about the distraction. They aren't really for the betterment of black communities, because if so, change would have been made in our communities.
In the court room, the prosecutor knows that 90% of the time, that if they over charge a defendant, they will take a plea bargain (Cop Out), a deal negotiated to the defendant via his/her defense attorney.
After chewing each other out in open court (the distraction) the judge orders recess. The prosecutor and defense attorney then go have lunch together to gamble your life; "I gave you the last three cases, let me get this one, his family is great people". At that moment the deal is decided and a plea is presented to the defendant who then accepts the plea. Not because he/she is guilty, but because a threat of maximum punishment has been said if they don't. So what I'm saying is, both political parties are part of the same government, just as the key members in a criminal court case. Neither one is really about change for the black community.
Until people in politics and government close their big mouths and act for our people; build an economic structure, a new education system and provide resources, the black people will never come out and vote again. Unless a black person is running for president again.
You want people to come out and vote, make a change in our community first. Give us something that shows you aren't just all mouth. We are sick of empty promises from politicians, attorneys and other government officials. You want our vote, make an effective change for our people, A Concert Won't Do It.
