Majority of the people only reveal 10% of who they are, who they are pretending to be, which is their fake image. The other 90% is hidden under the waterline. They create this 10% image for the world to see because they are afraid of being hurt, judged, laughed at or criticized.
Some pretend to be happy, rich, tough, the perfect husband, wife, pastor, teacher, doctor, lawyer, nurse, model etc. for society to see, advertising their money, jewelry, clothes, houses, cars, electronics, hotel rooms etc. But hide their true being, their feelings, behind that still photograph, that 15 second video clip, the television screen and that Facebook/Instagram post. They hide the fact that are struggling with something, neglecting their children, that their bills are up to the roof, that they can't make rent this month, that they are depressed, angry, frustrated, very ill, have made a poor decision, have slept with the wrong person, violated the rights of another human being, physically and sexually abused men, women and children, etc.
But it's when you reveal the 90% that you get to experience the joys of life, true love, compassion, intimacy and respect. In order to heal, you must reveal. I reveal my 90% often, because I'm living a human experience just like you and problems occur and schedules change. But it's when I reveal my deepest feelings that I experience true love, respect, kindness and compassion and am able to experience the joys of life. I reveal my emotions many ways; by sharing them with my confidants, fellowshipping, writing and poetry, which I share publicly because I'm not influenced by what society thinks. If I allow others to define me or my work, I wouldn't be me, I'd be society.
A Clouded mind is harmful. That's when stress starts to build and you begin to lose focus and began to self-destruct. The goal is to keep it cleansed, so you can allow great thoughts and ideas in. How do you cleanse it? By revealing the true emotions in it. Reveal them to someone. If you have no one to reveal it to, write it down and throw it away or write a song or poem. Whatever you do, get it out your mind so you can be free to be yourself.
