Most people have only two weeks of training spread out on a twenty-year basis, doing the same routine daily. They don't have twenty-years of Experience in the field.
Most people become obsolete after being away from particular tasks for a long period of time.
My first position ever was a barista. Put me in front of an expresso machine today and I wouldn't know how to work it. But if I was re-trained I would be able to use it effectively.
Employers should focus on those who have the ability to adapt to change, as well as those who have the ability to learn quickly. Not zero in on experiences that are no longer attractable and effective in this current year.
